Sketch Card Swap-A-Thon 2

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 17, 2009, 10:12 AM
OK, kidlets... the partners for Sketch Card Swap-A-Thon are selected (randomly out of a cardboard box by my cat, Tarzan!) And the pairings are posted below. Please contact your partner... decide what each of you wants the other to draw... go draw it... post it on your page and let me know when it's up so I can post them all here!

Remember... keep the art to standard 2.5" x 3.5" sketch card size. Most of this work is best on a heavy bristol board type stock or the like. The tools you use to create the art from there are up to you! Thanks for playing and have a bunch of fun...!

The deadline for getting your sketch cards finished is January 1, 2010. That should be PLENTY of time...!! Go draw...!

Axebone Sketch Card Commissions

Axebone Commissions

Wow... these little sketch cards are damn popular, aren't they...?!? And, now that I'm involved with them, I can understand why. They are a very unique, economical way to collect original artwork from your favorite creators. Easy to display, easy to transport... and just a lot of friggin' fun...:D

I have been bombed with inquires about my availability to create custom sketch card commissions... and figured it would be easier to just answer it all here once, rather than over and over again in countless emails and private messages...;P So here we go.....

*** COMMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED...!!

*** Current Sketch Card rates are $40 for a full color, single character card...$60 for a full color, two character card... (including shipping costs)

*** Commissions are usually completed in 2-4 weeks. Usually...:)

*** Cards will ship out to you protected by a soft sleeve, inside a rigid top-loader. This will then be securely packed inside a bubble wrapper shipping envelope.

*** If you have any other questions, please just drop me a note! And, thanks to everyone that has commissioned me... I appreciate the support and interest in my artwork...!

Sketch Card Swap-a-Thon !!

Sketch Card Swap

Well, it lokks like everyone that wants to jump in and play along with the Sketch Card Swap has dropped me a line. Not a huge response, but that's cool. I'm still looking forward to it...:)

OK, so here's what I did... I took everyone's name that wanted to participate and put them in a bowl. My lovely assistant (and wife) then randomly drew out 2 names at a time. Those pairs will then swap sketch cards with one another. Sketch cards must be 3.5"x2.5" on a quality stock. Below you will see the pairings. So, just get in touch with your trading partner and decide what you are going to create for one another. Draw it up... send the original out to you new art pal... send a scan to me so I can post them here for everyone to see...:) And, just to give everyone a time limit of sorts, let's shoot for a deadline of one month (hopefully it won't take that long!)...or, May 1, 2009... as the due date.

Here are the dynamic duos:

Commissions

Thu Sep 20, 2007, 7:47 AM
I have been getting a TON of questions about commissions lately.... so, I figured the best way to handle the subject would be to post up a quick blip addressing the subject.

YES.... I do accept commissions. And the following bullet list will detail the what, how and why of it all:

* Single character, minimal or no background, 9x12, full color art is $100. And it will never go lower. It just isn't worth the time and effort I put into a piece to do it for less. I can't keep up with what comes in now at that fee let alone get into a haggle over a lower rate. I'm not trying to be arrogant or pricky.... but, after a lot of trial and error... this fee is what seems most reasonable for both buyer and creator to me.

* I would rather draw female characters.... but, if you want Bugs Bunny or Wolverine... I'm happy to do it. A complete waste of the 'ol Axebone skill set.... but, happy to do it...:)

* Yes, your character can be nekkid. Yes, your character can be engaged in a wide variety of immoral and questionable acts. There are basically only two themes I refuse to depict in my art.... anything even remotely similar to kiddie porn and anything even remotely religious. Any religion. In the past I have created art that involved aspects of the second category.... and it just makes me uncomfortable. So, that is now a No Fly Zone.

* Your art will take several weeks to complete. I have a "real" job, a family and LOTS of other art commissions and projects competing for my time. And, I refuse to knock out art I consider below Axebone standards just to get it out the door. So, sometimes there is a significant wait for your art to be completed. But, rest assured.... once you are in line.... you never lose your place and your commission will receive my complete attention when your turn comes up. So, if you need it next week.... I'm probably not your guy...:) Currently, the turn-around time is about 4 weeks. Roughly....

* I very rarely trade art. Not that I won't trade.... or consider myself some sort of elitist... it's just easier for me to pay for art that I want or collect instead of waiting thru my own lengthy creation process in order to trade...:)

* Yes, you get to approve the art at the sketch stage before it goes to inks and colors. I always scan and email you my rough design for approval and any changes before it moves on to inks and final colors. However, once you give the rough sketch the thumbs up.... there are no corrections or changes due. Unless I just jack something up like an idiot. Rare.... but, always a possibility...:)

* My art is a combination of graphite, india ink, PrismaColor Art Markers, PrismaColor Art Pencils and acrylic paints on heavy plate bristol board. Usually 9x12.... but, for an adjusted commission rate other sizes can be created.

* Yes.... all those girls DO model for my art... :D

Hopefully this answered anything you might have wondered about. But, if not.... just drop me a line and I'll do my best to answer your question. Or make something up to get you to go away. Depends on if I took my medication or not that day....;P I appreciate all the great feedback I get in regard to my art.... and the fantastic love and support from those who follow and collect it....!!! My deepest thanks to all of you for your interest in my work...!
